NIBM's flagship annual publication, the India Banking and Finance Report 2024, was released on November 18, 2024 at the Conference on Money, Banking and Finance held at NIBM, Pune. The event began with a keynote address by Dr. Michael D. Patra, Deputy Governor - RBI, on the topic "India’s Digital Revolution". In the afternoon, the Honourable Deputy Governor officially unveiled the much-awaited India and Banking Finance Report (IBFR) 2024 along with the editors of the report: Prof. Partha Ray, Director - NIBM, Prof. Arindam Bandyopadhyay, Dean (Academic Programme) - NIBM and Prof. Sanjay Basu, Faculty - NIBM and Editor (Prajnan). The report, a compendium of articles on the Indian and global financial landscape, covers a wide spectrum of topics, across sixteen chapters: from latest macro-financial developments to ECL provisioning, ESG to Digitalization of Trade and regulatory contours after Silicon Valley Bank meltdown to credit guarantees for MSMEs.
Prof. Sanjay Basu in his presentation on the report elaborated on how IBFR comprehensively discusses the challenges and opportunities in an integrated and volatile world of banking and finance, the need for appropriate reforms and regulations, and the key lessons for the future. Prof. Basu's presentation was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Prof. Partha Ray. The panel comprised Dr. Deepak Kumar, Director - IDRBT, Dr. Rupa Rege Nitsure, Former Chief Economist, L&T Finance, Prof. Subrata Sarkar, Former Dean of Faculties, IGIDR, and Prof. Arindam Bandyopadhyay and Prof. Sanjay Basu from NIBM. It was followed by a Q and A session where the panel took questions from the audience. The event, which concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Bandyopadhyay, received an enthusiastic response from the students, faculty, staff and eminent guests from the banking and financial services industry.
