NIBM, Pune organised a panel discussion on a highly critical and timely topic “Navigating Stress and Nurturing Work-Life Balance in Modern Workplaces” on 14 November 2024.
This discussion aimed to not only highlight the challenges related to managing stress and maintaining work-life balance, but also to explore new perspectives and strategies to address them.
The panel discussion was coordinated by Dr. Asha Binu Raj, Professor of Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour at NIBM and it was moderated by Director-NIBM, Prof. Partha Ray, who is an eminent academician, researcher and practitioner in Economics. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Anjan Roy, Dean-Research and Consultancy, NIBM.
The panel consisted of experts from four different domains like Psychology, Psychiatry, Academics & Research, and the Banking Sector who provided their insights on how institutions can create supportive environments as well as how we, as individuals, can achieve our overall well-being.
One of the panellists, Ms Kavita Singh, GM and Zonal Head (Pune), Bank of Baroda provided inputs about employee engagement and well-being initiatives in banks and emphasized on time management for managing stress. Dr. Sukanya Biswas, a Clinical Psychologist who is currently associated with Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune shared valuable suggestions from a counsellor’s perspective about individual coping mechanisms such as prioritising tasks and preferences, and adopting simple exercises in routine activities to promote mental well-being.
Dr. Moitrayee Das, a Professor of Psychology in FLAME University, Pune shared insights not only about personal well-being, but also focused on the importance of social and community well-being. One of the panellists, Dr. Manish Bajpayee, a Consultant-Psychiatrist in Ruby Hall Clinic and Inamdar Hospital, Pune enlightened the audience with the importance of communication, and the role of family and friends in providing support mechanisms to people for maintaining mental well-being.
Coming from multifarious portfolios, the speakers discussed the growing psychological and emotional issues related to well-being at workplaces, and shared their experiences and suggestions from practical, psychological, emotional and medical perspectives.
This panel discussion not only helped the students to prepare themselves for the practical realities of workplaces but also provided suggestions to existing employees to adopt strategies to maintain a balance between their work and personal life and promote their overall well-being.
