Dr Michael Debabrata Patra, Former Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and currently Chairman, Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, visited the NIBM campus on October 24, 2025, for a Book Reading function of his recently released Book ‘Testimonials of Tumultuous Times’ (London: Routledge) and an address to the graduate students.
Dr Patra, in his address, traced how RBI and India’s financial architecture navigated the various phases to tide over various crises facing the Indian economy. He delved into the real-world trade-offs and decision-making challenges faced by the central bankers across the world to global disruptions like the pandemic and geopolitical conflicts. Dr Patra shared his reflections on India’s monetary policy journey amid major global shocks and the role of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). His address to the graduate students was very engaging and interactive, providing valuable insights into the intricacies of policy-making.
