August 15, 2023, marks the 77th anniversary of our nation's hard-fought freedom from colonial rule that lasted almost 200 years. Thus, Independence Day is not only a reminder of the sacrifices made by our countless freedom fighters, but also commemorates the rebirth of a nation ready to face its tryst with destiny. This is the day when we as Indians come together to show our everlasting bond with the motherland and the enduring dream of a nation where citizens rule themselves. The Independence Day celebrations at NIBM too was a reflection of this honour and pride. The day began with the traditional flag hoisting ceremony presided by Prof. Partha Ray, Director - NIBM, wherein the students, faculty and staff were present in full strength to renew the institute's commitment and contribution to the growth of the nation, highlighting the theme of 'Nation First, Always First'.
This day also marks the official end of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', an initiative of the Government of India to exalt and extol 75 years of progressive India along with the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. It was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi, about two years back with the ‘Dandi March’ flag off from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad on March 12, 2021. The celebrations started 75 weeks before our 75th anniversary of Independence and was scheduled to end on August 15, 2023.
