75TH REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS

Where liberty dwells, there is my country. - Benjamin Franklin

While India gained independence from the British Raj in 1947, it was declared a republic after almost three years on January 26, 1950, when the Indian Constitution came into effect, and India became a sovereign state. Hence, the nation celebrates 'January 26' as its Republic Day every year with great pomp and pageantry. The 75th Republic Day celebrations at NIBM, Pune, commenced in the morning of January 26, 2024, with unfurling of the tricolour by Prof. Partha Ray, Director – NIBM, which was greeted with patriotic fervour and slogans of ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ by the assembled gathering. The Director was then introduced to the members comprising the guard of honour. As part of the ‘Green Campus Programme’, the flag hoisting ceremony was followed by tree plantation of various species to reflect the spirit of harmony in diversity. More than a hundred saplings were planted in the campus by the NIBM faculty, students and staff along with the respected Director and senior officers from the Regional Forest Office, Salunkhe Vihar, Pune, who were the special invitees for the ceremony. As we remember the day our constitution was adopted, let us cherish the success of democracy and the values that make our country truly special. Ergo, it behooves all citizens to not only sustain what we have received from our forefathers, but also add more glory to it.
